Centre for Effective Learning in Science (CELS)
Nottingham Trent University
The Centre for Effective Learning in Science (CELS) aims to create a new image for science as relevant, achievable and accessible for everyone. To realise this ambition, interdisciplinary teams of academic staff are working within Higher Education and schools, in partnership with both the Royal Statistical Society’s Centre for Statistical Education (RSSCSE) and Nottingham Trent University’s Progression Partnerships.
CELS will achieve its goals by:
- Using best practice in educational research to design better ways of teaching science and its concepts.
- Increasing the number of science students and supporting the learning of science students locally.
- Providing a significant new resource base for science teaching nationally.
From Autumn 2006, CELS will move into custom built new facilities, which include a demonstration lecture theatre, seminar rooms, an IT suite, a School lab, meeting rooms, exhibition space and offices.
